Adding a Newsletter Sign Up Box to Your Site
Q. Hi Alice, I just joined Aweber to manage my newsletters but I don’t know how to put the sign up box on my website, can you help? Thanks!… Danielle
A. First off, for those who don’t know what Aweber is, it’s a popular program for sending out newsletters, broadcasts and follow-up emails to your subscribers. You can learn more here… http://www.aweber.com.
Now, to answer Danielle’s question… You can actually generate a code within Aweber to use on your site that creates the sign up box you are asking about.
Here are the steps for creating the code:
1. Login to your Aweber account.
2. Using the drop down menu on the left, choose the list you want to create the sign up box for.
3. Go to the List Settings tab and choose Web Form.
4. You should see a green button that says Create Web Form; click that.
5. Name the form you want to create. For example, you are creating a sign up box for your website so you could name it “Webite Sign Up”. If it were a blog you were adding it to, you might name it Blog Sign Up and so forth.
6. Next, choose the type of form you need.
7. Insert the url of your Thank You page — the page your visitors will be directed to once they’ve signed up for your list.
8. Continue filling in the remaining fields as necessary. Some may not be used and others you may want to use, these are optional.
9. Decide which message you want your subscribers to start on. For a series, it typically would be the 1st message.
10. Click Next to design the sign up box.
11. On the left will be predefined fields that you can add to your sign up box. You can also create custom fields if you choose. Simply drag and drop the fields you want into the preview pane on the right.
12. Here you will also be able to add a headline to your sign up box.
13. Once you have your sign up box the way you want, click the save button. This will direct you back to your list of forms.
14. Find the form you want to add to your site and click the Get HTML link.
15. Copy the code and paste into your website where you want the sign up box to be located.
… that’s it! Now your web site visitors can sign up to receive your newsletter directly on your site.
