How Did The Internet Sweetie Get Her Start?

Q: “Hi Alice! You’ve given such great advice about being an Internet Marketing Sweetie, but how did you get started? What was it that started you on the journey to being a mentor to so many?”

If you’ve been my subscriber for a while, you might know the full story and then some. Still, I know that a lot of my subscribers are either new to Internet Marketing or new to really knowing about me. So, if you need a little inspiration…I hope this will help.

It all started while I was on maternity leave with my first baby in 2002.

I knew there had to be something I could do from home and avoid returning to the corporate world. I didn’t want to leave my little guy, while I went to work. No way!

I got started with a direct sales company selling kids books. Although direct sales is a great model for a lot of business hopefuls, it just wasn’t for me. I wanted to set MY OWN rules and build a business UNIQUELY MINE. The great thing was that during my time in direct sales, I got to know quite a few work at home moms online who were also trying to carve out a career from home - but more on that in a bit.

I also realized that I wanted a TOTALLY at home business. With a little baby, it just wasn’t practical to lug my wares about a few times per week. I knew there must be a way to make money online without having to resort to out of the home methods. I just knew the Internet could do that for me.

So I turned to the work at home mom community that I had come to know online. I asked what they knew about online business and if you could make a full time income online. Although many had websites, etc…most claimed there was NO WAY to just do business online. There were tons of home business resources for moms, but nobody was “REALLY” talking Internet marketing.

I was NOT WILLING to accept the fate the community seemed to say I was destined for. There had to be a way to run a successful business completely online.

That’s when I decided to create an Internet marketing resource site just for moms. After all, even though the moms said it wasn’t possible, they all wanted it just about as badly as me.

And so, internetbasedmoms.com was born. It was the 2nd site I ever made (the first was my direct sales site long since vanished of the WWW). I immersed myself into learning about Internet marketing and sharing what I learned along the way. What’s funny is that I really had no idea what I was doing, but I learned quickly and was determined to give a helping hand to other moms at the same time.

And so, I started to build an online business based on the knowledge and experience I was gaining. How cool is that?

Soon I realized, I wasn’t simply attracting moms to my resources. There were plenty of women without children and men seeking out what I had to say. That’s when I decided to launch my blog at aliceseba.com and share some more experiences to a more general audience.

My focus was on sharing results and opinions based on my experience in Internet marketing. This included a strong focus on helping others build businesses that really cared for their clients and customers.

All was going well and then on one random day, my friend and expert copywriter Michel Fortin said, “You’re such a sweetie,” in reference to the way I run my business.

That’s when something clicked, and voila! I became the Internet Marketing Sweetie.

It started simply with the launch of the flagship course Internet Marketing Sweeting.

After that, other “Internet marketing for the greater good” courses have since followed and it’s been a great rid.

The whole Internet Marketing Sweetie concept centers around the proven belief that there is no need to be cutthroat in business just to move ahead. A true Internet Marketing Sweetie always gets ahead ethically, honestly and always adds value to the web and the world in general.

And very importantly, being an Internet Marketing Sweetie is all about working less AND making more. There’s no need to work yourself to the bone trying to help people. The Internet is a great place where you can reach a lot of people quickly, easily and cost-efficiently.

I believe when you have something truly valuable to offer to your audience and they’re willing to spend some cash in their pursuits…you CAN build a success business online.
